Sweden and Finland share more than a border and centuries of history. We are two highly innovative, export-driven economies with deep technological expertise and an increasingly shared view of our security and our place in the world. But are we really making enough of that relationship – and of the Nordic region as a whole?
At a time when Europe is searching for direction and struggling to keep pace with the US and China, the Nordics have many of the ingredients needed to lead the way: talent, capital, clean energy, strong institutions and world-leading companies. What we lack is scale.
So what would it take to turn five relatively small economies into one collective, powerful economic force? Could closer ties between Sweden and Finland show the way? What is still holding back deeper Nordic integration – and how can we make it easier for ideas, talent, capital and companies to move across our borders?
The dinner brings together a hand-picked group of senior leaders from business and beyond in Finland and Sweden to explore how closer cooperation can sharpen the Nordic competitive edge, and what we need to do differently to get there.
The dinner will be preceded by a moderated discussion between Jyrki Katainen, former Prime Minister of Finland and Head of Group Public and Regulatory Affairs at Nordea, and Daniella Waldfogel, CEO of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce.
